VakıfBank win 3-0 in the first match of the new year

VakifBank, the reigning champion, hosted Aydin Büyüksehir Belediyespor in the postponed game of the 11th week of the Turkish League. The yellow-blacks defeated their opponent 3-0 in their first match of 2023.

VakıfBank, the only champion of the Turkish League since 2018, hosted Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the first match in 2023. The yellow-blacks won their 8th consecutive league game by beating their opponent 3-0 and started the new year with a win.

Getting 6 points each from Zehra Güneş and Chiaka Ogbogu in the first set of the match at Vakıfbank Spor Sarayı, VakıfBank took the lead with a score of 25-21. Playing strong in the second set, the yellow-blacks won the set 25-16, bringing the game to 2-0. VakıfBank, won the last set 25-22 and the game 3-0.

Kara Bajema was the top scorer of the game with 14 points in VakıfBank; Aleksia Karutasu scored 13, Nika Daalderop 11, Zehra Güneş 10 and Chiaka Ogbogu 9 points.

VakıfBank will play the first CEV Champions League match of 2023 in the next match. The last European Champion VakıfBank will be the guest of Italian representative Igor Gorgonzola Novara in Pool C on Tuesday, January 10.
