Born on May 19, 1994 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Gabriela Braga Guimaraes started playing volleyball at the age of 14. Gabi, who was previously interested in football, swimming and tennis, met volleyball at Pitagoras College. The professional career of the 1.80 tall spiker started at Mackenzie Sports Club a year later. Having played in this club for four years, Gabi transferred to Sesc Rio de Janeiro Club in the summer of 2012. The Brazilian spiker, who played for Sesc Rio de Janeiro for seven seasons, spent 2018-2019 at Minas Tennis Clube. Transferring to VakıfBank at the beginning of the 2019-2020 season, Gabi won 1 FIVB World Club Championship, 2 CEV Champions League, 1 Turkish League, 1 Turkish Cup and 1 Turkish Super Cup with the yellow-blacks. The Brazilian star has also been the captain of VakıfBank Sports Club since the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.
Having won 6 Brazilian Super League, 5 South American Club Championships, 3 Brazilian Cups, 3 Brazilian Super Cups in his career, Gabi served in all age categories of the Brazilian National Team. Gabi, who won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Championship with the Brazilian National Team; won gold in 2013, 2014, 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix Finals and bronze in 2015. The star spiker, who took part in the team that won the gold medal at the 2013, 2015, 2021 and 2023 South American Championships, won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Gabi also took part in the second step of the podium with the Brazilian National Team in the 2022 Nations League and World Championship.
