Michelle Bartsch-Hackley was born in Kansas, USA on February 12, 1990. She started her volleyball career at Collinsville High School. US spiker played in University of Illinois between 2008-2012, and then continued her career in Llaneras de Toa Baja (Puerto Rico), Rote Raben Vilsbiburg (Germany), Dresdner SC 1898 (Germany), Neruda Bolzano (Italy), Unet E-Work He played for Busto Arsizio (Italy), Igor Gorgonzola Novara (Italy) and most recently at Beijing BAIC Motors (China).

Michelle Bartsch-Hackley, who is one of the most valuable players of the US National Team, has achieved great success in both the club and in the national team. The 29-year-old spiker, who won the German Cup in the 2013-2014 season with the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg team, won the championship in the German League under the Dresdner SC 1898 jersey in the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons. In addition, she won the German Cup in 2015-2016 season and in the 2018-2019 season she got the Italian Cup and CEV Champions League titles with Igor Gorgonzola Novara.

Wearing the jersey of the US National Team for the first time in 2015, the 1.93 tall spiker won the gold medals in the Pan American Games (2015, 2017) and FIVB Nations League (2018, 2019). Michelle Bartsch-Hackley won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the Best Spiker awards in the 2018 FIVB Nations League, where the US National Team won the gold medal.
