Guidetti: “I was thinking CEV had forgotten about us

VakıfBank head coach Giovanni Guidetti spoke ahead of the new Champions League season.

Guidetti said: “Finally, we start the CEV Champions League. I was thinking CEV had forgotten about us because we’re already almost in December and we haven’t played a single match. We keep saying the Champions League should be the best tournament in Europe, but we’re playing way too few matches. But finally, we’ve started.

Last meeting with Volero: 2018 FIVB Club World Championship

VakıfBank last faced Volero Le CANNET at the 2018 FIVB Club World Championship. VakıfBank won the group-stage match 3–0 and went on to finish the tournament as world champions. Before Volero’s name change in 2018, the two sides had met eight times in the CEV Champions League, with VakıfBank winning all eight and conceding only seven sets in total.
