VakıfBank Spor Kulübü is a Turkish volleyball club based in Istanbul, Turkey. VakıfBank Spor Kulübü, currently one of the best volleyball teams in the world, 4 time winner of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship and 6 time CEV European Champions League winner. The yellow-black team is also the most successful sports team of its country in International arena with the title of the most international trophy (13) holder of Türkiye.
Founded in Istanbul in 1986, Güneş Sigorta Spor Kulübü later merged with Ankara-based VakıfBank Spor Kulübü, established in 1988. The two entities formally united in 2000 under the VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta name.
Following the merger, Istanbul became the club's operational center, with the team competing at the highest level of Türkiye volleyball. The Ankara side, meanwhile, withdrew from top-tier competition and continued in the lower divisions.
Ahead of the 2009–10 season, the club signed a naming rights agreement with Türk Telekom. While the club retained the VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta identity, the volleyball team was officially registered as VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta Türk Telekom.
Another restructuring took place prior to the 2011–12 season, when Güneş Sigorta exited the partnership. The club was rebranded as VakıfBank Spor Kulübü, while the team competed under the name VakıfBank Türk Telekom. A year later, following the end of the Türk Telekom agreement, the club adopted a simplified identity: VakıfBank.
In Ankara, the remaining structure operated under the VakıfBank name until 2012, when it merged with Karşıyaka Spor Kulübü to form Ankara Karşıyaka Spor Kulübü. This development marked VakıfBank's complete exit from Ankara and its full consolidation in Istanbul.
With 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2026 CEV Champions League titles, VakıfBank is “The first and the most Champions League trophy holder of Türkiye”. Beside these, by winning of 73 victories in all national and international competitions in a row from 23 October 2012 to 22 January 2014, VakıfBank has settled in the Guinness World Records.
Also in 2013 VakıfBank succeed to win every trophies as undefeated. As of January 23, 2014, the team holds a 73-games winning streak record in domestic and international official competitions. VakıfBank won all 52 official games played during the 2012–13 season and all 51 official games played in the year 2013. The team collected all five championship trophies in 2013, being the only club in volleyball history to have achieved this feat.
In 2020, the club was once again recognized by Guinness World Records as the most successful team in the history of the FIVB Women's Club World Championship, holding the record for the most titles.
In 2023, VakıfBank Spor Kulübü claimed its seventh CEV Champions League title, earning a third entry in the Guinness World Records as the club with the most CEV Champions League titles.
VakıfBank also won all titles in season 2017-2018 (CEV Champions League, Sultanlar Ligi, Kupa Voley, Şampiyonlar Kupası) and 2021-2022 (CEV Champions League, FIVB Club World Championship, Sultanlar Ligi, Kupa Voley, Şampiyonlar Kupası). They won the 2013, 2017, 2018, 2021 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship, the 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2026 CEV Champions League, the CEV Top Teams Cup in 2004 and CEV Challenge Cup in 2008.
VakıfBank Spor Kulübü introduces young girls to volleyball through its network of 11 sports schools, including four in Istanbul, two each in Ankara, Izmir, and Bursa, and one in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With the opening of its sports school in Sarajevo, VakıfBank became the first Turkish club to establish a volleyball school in Europe.
