VakıfBank is in the final of the CEV Champions League for the 9th time

 

Last European Champion VakıfBank defeated Fenerbahçe Opet 3-0 in the CEV Champions League semi-final second leg match of the 3-0 loss. The yellow blacks advanced to the final once again by winning the golden set 15-12.

 

The Last European Champion VakıfBank faced Fenerbahçe Opet in the semi-final second-leg game. Having lost the first match at VakıfBank Spor Sarayı 3-0, the yellow blacks won the rematch with the same score and carried the match to the golden set. Winning the gold set 15-12, VakıfBank reached the final for the 9th time.

 

Although Fenerbahçe Opet started the game fast at the Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, VakıfBank recovered and managed to win the set 25-22, in which they recorded 7 blocks. Starting the second set strongly, VakıfBank led the set from start to finish and brought the game to 2-0 with a score of 25-14. The last champion, who won the last set 25-22, carried the match to the golden set. VakıfBank won 15-12 in the golden set and advanced to the final.

 

In VakıfBank, Paola Egonu was the top scorer with 21 points; Gabi scored 18, Kara Bajema, who was the most valuable player of the match, got 13 points and Chiaka Ogbogu 10 points.

 

Giovanni Guidetti: “Today we had a mountain in front of us to climb and we reached to the top”

Expressing his satisfaction after the match, VakıfBank Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti said: “We played against a great team that didn't even lose a set for the last 2 months. We were very well prepared. Thank you to my players. I have a team that knows very well how to play such matches. My players were very motivated, organized and passionate. Today we had a mountain in front of us to climb, but we climbed that mountain step by step and reached to the top of the mountain”

 

Kara Bajema: “Çok çalıştık ve karşılığını aldık”

Selected as the most valuable player of the match, Kara Bajema said: “I am proud of all my teammates. We worked hard and it paid off. I'm so excited for the final. It will be a very difficult match, but we believe we will win”

The CEV Champions League Super Final will be played on 20 May in Turin, Italy. VakıfBank will face another representative of Türkiye, Eczacıbaşı Dynavit, in the final.
